CODE OF CONDUCT
It is an offence for students to:
1.
Carry fireworks, knives, firearms or other weapons
1st offence - warning in writing, confiscate weapon, counseling
2nd offence - 3 days suspension
3rd offence - disciplinary committee
2.
Smoke on or off school premises while in uniform
1st offence - reprimand/counseling
2nd offence - reprimand/counseling
3rd offence - reprimand/counseling
3.
Take or use any intoxicants, drugs or any illegal substance while in
uniform on or off the campus.
1st offence - (counseling or refer to Police) criminal offence
4.
Use abusive language or expose themselves indecently
1st offence - strong reprimand
2nd offence - strong reprimand
3rd offence - strong reprimand
5.
Organize or take part in any form of gambling or games of chance
1st offence - warning
2nd offence - strong reprimand
3rd offence - strong reprimand
6.
Fight with other students or take away by force the property of any
other student or intimidate them.
1st offence - counseling/suspension
** see The Education Act (1965), Education Code of Regulations 30 for
complete procedures and any other laws in Jamaica relevant to the
matter/case.
7.
Be insubordinate or insolent to any member of staff
1st offence - written/and public apology
8.
Students should be punctual for classes, examinations and other school
related activities
9.
Students who are absent from school because of unavoidable reasons must
immediately inform the institution
10.
Any student who falls ill or is injured while on campus should
immediately; if possible, report in person to the Nurse’s Office. If
he/she is unable to do so, then this should be reported by any other
concerned person. Students who are absent from classes due to illness
for three or more consecutive days must submit an authentic doctor's
certificate to the Student Services Office as soon as possible along
with a letter informing the institution of the absence as a result of
illness. If this absence occurs during any examination period, the
doctor’s certificate and a letter from the student seeking permission to
sit the examination at the next available sitting must be submitted to
the Examinations Director without delay. Other documents may be required
to make a case for the student(s) so affected
11.
Students may have cellular phones in their possession but should not
allow these to disturb classes, devotional exercises or other
gatherings.
Sanction: Persons breaking the rule may have their instruments
confiscated
12.
. Students must be in full uniform to attend classes, devotion,
examinations or when representing the institution, at certain functions,
for example, field trips. |
