The Agricultural Management Diploma program provides training in the scientific and managerial aspects of agriculture, entrepreneurship and business. The course explores a range of topics and relates them to business management as well as seek to prepare graduates in the fields of Animal Husbandry and Agronomy.
The main benefit of this articulation is that students will be able to complete the first year at Knox and then move on to College of Agriculture Science and Education (C.A.S.E.). to complete the second year of the Associate Degree at considerable cost savings.
It will be required of year one students to pass 2 additional O’level CSec subjects including Mathematics and successfully complete the certificate course to matriculate into year 2

The course is designed to help the students to identify their specific growth path which in turn will help them to enhance their academic, spiritual, emotional and career development.
COMM 1102 Communication 1 – 3 Cr. Lec. 3
This course aims to develop students’ ability to use Standard English to express themselves clearly, precisely and fluently in speech and writing. It focuses on the Jamaican Language situation with aim of examining the influence of the Jamaican Creole on the learning of Standard Jamaican English It is also aimed at enhancing students’ information gathering and processing skills. It will focus on both the reading and listening skills required for basic research, effective comprehension and the summary of information.
COMM 2303 Communication 2 – 3 Cr. Lec. 3
This course aims to develop students’ ability to use Standard English structures to express themselves clearly, precisely and fluently in speech and writing. It focuses on the process used in oral and written communication. It is designed to provide students with opportunities to produce different types of oral and written communication while selecting and combing forms, media, channels and technologies to maximize communication.

This course deals with the introduction to horticultural practices. It is so designed to develop the physical abilities of the student so that he/she will be capable of successfully establishing, growing and managing horticulture plants and to landscape properly on a given location and become well familiar with the tools necessary to deal with horticultural operations.
BOTY 1106 Introduction to Botany – 3 Cr. 2 Lec., 2 Labs
This course is an introduction to the fundamental principles of the anatomy, development, physiology, reproductive biology, ecology and evolution of the major plant groups, with emphasis on the flowering plants. The course is targeted towards students with no previous college level biology, but is also appropriate as a lower division course for biology majors.
ENVA 1108 Environmental Awareness – 3 Cr. 3 Lec.
This introductory course provides the students with a general awareness of how physical processes and human activity impact on the environment. Emphasis is placed on environmental impacts related to tourism, agriculture, industry and urbanization. Concepts, such as sustainable development, globalization, environmental responsibility, scientific knowledge, are stressed.

This course uses calculus based mathematical models to introduce the fundamental concepts that describe the physical world. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate and understanding of the principles involved and display analytical problem solving ability through application to technology and various scientific fields.

In order for a successful business to thrive one must be capable of executing novice ideas with in establishment. Complete knowledge and understanding is very important in the success of such a venture.

BTEC 1203 Building Technology – 3 Cr. 2 Lec., 2 Labs
This course is designed to give a good theoretical background to what is essentially a practical subject and exposes the students to advanced principles applied in building activities. These principles are better understood with observation of works in progress and any practical subject experience gained. At the end of the course the students should have a broad understanding of the general principles of construction and building technology so as to move on to more advanced theories, practices and complex subject areas in a second year study.
INAC 1204 Introduction to Accounting – 3 Cr. 3 Lec.
This course is designed to help students appreciate the importance of financial accounting in the workplace. The course involves the posting of transactions to the ledger and the preparation of final accounts with adjustments for accruals, prepayment, depreciation and provision for bad debts.
ZOLY 1205 Zoology – 3 Cr. 2 Lec., 2 Labs
This course is designed to provide an understanding of major principles and concepts of animal biology. It undertakes an in-depth study of the organization of the animal body; protoplasm; cells as well as a look at the physiological processes such as reproduction, embryology, cell and nuclear division that occur in an animal. The ecological role of animal as parasites or insect pest as well as their interaction in marine, fresh water and terrestrial environments is also investigated. The course ends with a brief look at the evolutionary development of the animal kingdom and the geographical distribution of the members of this kingdom.
AGPT 1206 Agriculture Production Technology – 3 Cr. 0 Lec., 12 Labs
This course consists of three modules (Field and Vegetable Crops, Livestock and Engineering). The modules will provide students with hands on experience in theoretical and practical aspects of vegetable production, husbandry practices with livestock and utilization and maintenance of tools, tractors, equipment and engineering materials in the production practice on the farm.

This course seeks to acquaint students with management principles and practices in Agriculture Production. It is a multi discipline area of study that integrates the knowledge gained from economics, crop and animal science and applies this to principles and techniques of managing, planning, and analyzing a farm business.

This course deals with the study of plants. The structure of plant cells as compared with algae. Characteristics of Plant Kingdom: fungi, algae, gymnosperms, angiosperm.
